① Diagnosis → ② Exam strategy lessons → ③ Mock tests, review and practice

A diagnostic test finds each child’s weak spots first, then they learn exam skills and strategies step by step. A mock test every two days, with teacher feedback, helps close the gaps.

English Ready · FAQ

My child is a complete beginner. Can they join?

Yes. English Ready welcomes children aged 6–16 who are beginners or have weaker basics. Every short course starts with an English placement test so the school can understand your child’s level and plan the right content. Beginners can start with phonics. The class and learning goals are set based on the test results.

How do the placement test and grouping work?

Before camp, your child takes an English placement test and is placed in a class based on age and English level. Courses cover phonics, KET, PET and IELTS. The final placement depends on the test results and the classes running that intake.

What’s the difference between half day and full day?

Both start at 08:30 and include English lessons, focused practice, review and feedback. Half day finishes at 14:00. Full day runs until 16:30, adding drama, STEAM and sports in the afternoon, plus an afternoon snack. Activities follow the timetable for each intake.

Are meals included in the fee?

Yes. Half day includes breakfast and lunch; full day also includes an afternoon snack. If your child has a food allergy or special diet (for example, vegan), please tell us when you sign up and check in advance whether the school can cater for it.

English in Action · FAQ

Are classes grouped by English level?

This camp is mainly project-based, so children are not grouped by English level. They take an English test before camp, and during camp they are grouped according to each project. Every group has a teacher who guides them to use English in real tasks.

The camp suits children aged 10–17 who can already read and write in English. The test results help confirm whether it’s the right fit.

Do children of different ages learn and do activities together?

Yes. Campers aged 10–17 may learn and work on projects together. Teachers form groups for each project, considering both age and English level, so children practise communicating and sharing ideas as a team. Grouping follows the lessons and projects for each intake.

Do teachers go on the Singapore day trip?

Yes. Children plan the route and schedule in groups, and teachers lead and accompany them throughout the trip. The Singapore day trip is a sample project; whether it runs and the details depend on each intake’s plan. Please check the travel documents and costs needed for the border crossing before you sign up.

School Immersion · FAQ

Which year group will my child join? Can we choose?

The school places your child in a suitable class based on age and English level, and they learn alongside current students. Children aged 3–5 join early years. If you have a preferred year group, let us know during your enquiry and the school will tell you what’s possible after assessment.

Can we apply for full enrolment after the camp?

Yes, you can apply. Families interested in enrolling can use the camp feedback, next-step advice and the 1:1 online parent meeting after camp to find the right year group and start date.

Joining the camp does not mean automatic admission. Enrolment follows the school’s admissions process; please ask us about requirements and available places.

Frequently asked questions

If a parent comes along, where do they stay?

Parents are welcome to come. We can recommend and book accommodation for you; room types, location and prices are confirmed separately.

What do parents do while children are in class?

While children are in class, parents can join free adult English classes at the school, Monday to Friday, 45 minutes each. Please check the class schedule before you travel.

The rest of the time is yours, and you can check your child’s daily photos and updates on ClassDojo at any time. We’re happy to share local living and travel tips when you enquire.

If my child comes alone, who looks after them after class?

The student boarding house near the school has dedicated house parents who look after children after class. Teachers also join them for dinner and boarding house activities. Parents can see daily photos and camp updates on ClassDojo.

Whether your child is ready to come alone depends on their age, independence and accommodation choice.

Where do campers come from?

Past campers have come from Korea, China, Japan, Malaysia and other countries, and the mix changes from intake to intake. When you sign up, you can ask about current registrations for your intake; the final mix depends on who actually attends.

Stellar International School’s students come from 30 countries. This describes the whole school, not the mix at every camp.

Can my child join two different camps back to back?

Yes. Your child can do 2 weeks each at two camps for a 4-week programme, for example English Ready followed by English in Action.

Choose 4 weeks in “Find your camp” on this page to see the possible combinations. Whether two camps can be combined depends on your child’s age, English level, start dates and available places.

What do the fees include? Are accommodation and transport extra?

The fees shown are for the chosen camp and class type. Student accommodation is priced separately; please ask us about parent accommodation. Whether transport, outings and other items are included depends on the fee list for your chosen package. You can also ask about the Singapore ↔ Johor Bahru shuttle bus times and fares.
